In July 2016, Mac Forums, a website describing itself as the "Ultimate Source For Your Mac," allegedly suffered a data breach. The vBulletin-based platform reportedly exposed more than 326,000 records containing usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, dates of birth, and passwords stored as salted MD5 hashes. The compromised data was later found being traded on a popular hacking forum.
