In September 2016, NemoWeb, a French website described as a "standardised and decentralized means of exchange for publishing newsgroup articles," allegedly suffered a data leak from what appeared to be an unprotected MongoDB. The incident reportedly exposed nearly 21GB of data consisting largely of emails sent to the service. Among the compromised data were almost 3.5 million unique email addresses, though many were auto-generated.
